The Château de Rochetaillée-sur-Saône, located on the banks of the Saône 11 km north of Lyon, and its 3-hectare wooded park provide a stunning setting for the Henri Malartre Automobile Museum.
This Belle Époque château houses the collections of Henri Malartre, comprising cars, bicycles, vintage motorcycles, and Lyon public transport vehicles. Come and discover around a hundred exceptional vehicles, from Hitler's parade Mercedes to the Lumière brothers' Vivastella and the carriage from the first Fourvière funicular railway!
The museum also houses many vehicles manufactured in the Lyon region. Brands such as Luc Court, Rochet-Schneider and Viratelle were the jewels of the global automotive industry in the early 20th century, but no longer exist today.
The museum has a mechanical workshop that maintains and restores the vehicles, most of which are in working order.
There are themed guided tours, workshops for children, activity books and events featuring vintage cars in action. Find out more!
The castle grounds host numerous events related to the themes of the collections, including large gatherings of vintage car collectors' clubs.
