The Hôtel Bayard Bellecour is located in the heart of the Presqu'Île district, to the south of the iconic Place Bellecour in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. This small, charming hotel embodies the art of living in Lyon, offering an intimate and hushed atmosphere marked by discreet elegance and authentic style. Every detail of the décor, from the wooden floors and elaborate mouldings to the rich colours and luxurious materials, has been designed to provide an unforgettable experience.
Our building is one of the oldest on Place Bellecour. It is believed to have been built in 1571. Remarkably, it survived the revolution, when all the other buildings around the square were demolished in an attempt to erase all memory of Lyon's bourgeoisie. Admire the listed façade at 23 Place Bellecour. You'll notice the difference in style compared to the neighbouring buildings, which were constructed in the Haussmann style; our façade is much simpler and more understated.
Enter the Hôtel Bayard and head up the stairs to reception. These few steps will transport you back in time to the Lyon of yesteryear and lead you to the hotel's reception area, which is sure to dazzle you with its distinctive décor. The Hotel Bayard Bellecour first opened its doors in 1921. The furniture and decorative elements are original features, blended with modern elements to ensure the hotel's early days are faithfully recreated.
Don't be surprised to find a bathtub in your room: in 1921, bathrooms didn't exist yet and toilets were located directly inside the rooms.
